Grendelism = Grendel Generalism

The page of Grendelism.  This is where you will find the not so musical bits from the band.  Anything we think you might want to read about.

Brendan's Baby

This is the current love of Brendan's life, right after Larissa of course!!!!

At 74 they still love Grendel...........

But only for their "beautiful hair". A spritely 74 year old grandmother sat through the Grendel set at the Emerging Cocktail showcase and compliments came thick and fast.  She didn't get the music but wanted the boys to know that they all had "Lovely hair".  She sent her very embarrassed daughter to ask what shampoo they all use.  You should have seen Darins face.

Nice to know they appeal in some way to all ages.

So was it their fault....................

A altercation after last nights gig leaves us wondering.

Those of us in the crowd watched in interest, during the set, as two closely cropped rather big blokes debated the sound.  One loved it (punter 1), the other was probably in the wrong pub and  thought he was going to see good old Jimmy Barnes (punter 2).  These guys bellied up several times during the set, with one clearly heard to say "you wouldn't know fucking good music when you hear it (insert unrecognisable expletive in here please)...... if you don't like it then fuck off ya stupid prick."

Only slightly expecting trouble from punter  2  we packed up after the set as normal and lugged out.  After loading up the cars we stood around in the parking lot as ya do.  Next thing comes the pub brawl sounds of fuck up ya prick, why don't ya go fuck ya self etc etc etc.  Now the guy that was being asked and escorted so politely to leave (coff coff) was the size of a Mack truck, he was also the latest Grendel fan (punter 1) and had really gotten into the music.

After a few impacts with the ground, surrounding cars, and various hands, punter 1 took his leave with his woman making sure he stopped on the way to let the guys know how much he loved the music.  If nothing else Grendel fans are passionate.

We don't know what actually happened inside but ya can't help thinking that Mr Jimmy Fan and the new Grendel fan had come to serious words about their tastes in music.

We will never know.

The tale of the Bike begins:

As you would have read Mark killed his GSXF Motorbike in Ipswich after our gig at the Federal Hotel.  Well after a bit of mouth to bike resuscitation from inimitable Dr Rob & his always dishy sidekick Nurse Mark…..IT LIVES.

Follow the rebuild here:

Phase 1 of the big rebuild

The Carb, Airbox, battery and right starter coil have all been removed, along with any sundry damaged leads and cables .. what you are looking at there is from right to left. Alternator and lower engine intakes, all of which, along with the frame you can see are undamaged

The carb. It is supposed to be an inline 4 and as you can see it isnt inline anymore. and there are a lot of broken, smashed .. very buggered bits on it. The big chunks out of the metal casing is where the bike took most of the impact. This whole unit should be getting replaced in stage 2 or 3 depending on how we go for money.

Rob had to model the carb for us to add the human touch !!! Hmm I use human loosely there LOL. He is a legend and I would be lost without his know how with bikes ..

as much as we would without his kick ass drumming in the band

CLUB PSYCHO

25 June 2004

Well the boys lived up to the name that is for sure.  Grendel was reborn on Friday night with fantastic sound and a great crowd, CD's were sold and autograph's given.  What a night.  If you missed it you missed one hell of a gig.

Eddie Castle Hotel

22 May

Decent metal crowd at this one, nice and rowdy just the way it should be.  A good gig to end an era.

Eddie Castle Hotel

1 May 2004

This was the surprise gig.  Bit of a small crowd but the music was good.  Had comment from the crowd that they rock  so the fan list grows.

The Gap Sports Club.

17 April 2004

At first we thought that we weren't going to find much of a metal crowd at this venue.  But after being fired up by Quill - an 80's heavy rock covers band the crowd were wired up for some fast paced metal from the boys.  Small crowd but a pretty good venue.

Eddie Castle Hotel

10 April 2004

This is fast becoming the favoured stomping ground for Grendel.  Saturday night saw a great turn out and everyone had a live and loud Easter Saturday.  Grendel were well supported by Undertoe and Repeat Offender who won their round of Arties Band Wars recently.

Albany Creek Tavern

Hitting the stage 2 hours late does nothing for crowd enthusiasm.  Venue technical hitches caused the gig to be delayed with Grendel not getting onstage till about 10.45.  The set was shortened but the sound was worth waiting for.  Couple of punters not into heavy metal (see grendelism for more info) but overall it went down well. It was an interesting gig that started and ended with a brawl between the punters.

Petrie Hotel

6 February 2004

What a night!  Grendel went on at 10.30 and they went off.  With a few free form dancers to set the scene the Petrie Hotel rocked like it never had before.

Edinburgh Castle Hotel

25 January 2004

The Eddie rocked again with the sounds of Merkury, Temple Godz and Grendel.  Not a huge house but it was a good night.

3 January 2004

Grendel absolutely shook the roof of the Castle.  If the first gig of the year is a sign of things to come then look out 2004.

The Basement

24 December

What a way to spend Christmas Eve.  The Basement went off.

Merkury Bash

22 November 2003

Grendel came alive.  A new level of intensity was reached and the energy was contagious.  They belted out some really solid tunes.  1 hour on stage was a solid days work.  Thanks to Merkury for inviting us a long to what was an absolutely great night.  You can check out Merkury's cd at  www.merkury.netfirms.com Their Mettalica covers got the room (well space) rocking and their original tunes keep them going.

Federal Hotel

Thursday 24th July 2003

The music was great and the people enjoyed the sound.

This one has become the gig that will go down in our memories.  Our singer Mark decided to learn how to fly on the way home from this one.  He and his motorbike parted ways.  Luckily, Mark is only slightly injured, the bike however is a right off.  A swift reminder to all riders that they make safety gear for a damn good reason, we are all thankful that Mark was wearing his.

Indie Temple

Saturday 5th July 2003

Opening the night, Grendel played to a small but enthusiastic crowd.  Thanks to those that came along for support.   Check out the new live pic’s in the Gig Photo Album

Chardon's Corner Hotel

SATURDAY 8th MARCH 2003

This was an awesome gig. Grendel would like to thank Slow Burner and Blindman's Faith for having us along.

Do yourself a favour and get out and see these two bands
