Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where did the name "Grendel" come from?

The hunt for a name was lengthy and widespread. Several of the band members are or were involved with medieval societies and enjoy history, so naturally the search turned to historical manuscripts and stories. The name came from an old Scandinavian story called Beowulf. Beowulf is a Norse hero who fights and defeats an evil monster that has killed many brave men over many years. The monsters name was Grendel.

2. What about the line often associated with the band "Striding in the night the walker of darkness"?

That is also from Beowulf. It is the line in the story that describes Grendel the very first time that Beowulf(and the reader) sees this evil monster.

3. Is it true that Robert used to be a stripper?

The reason Robert plays drums is so that both of his hands are full which prevents him from taking his clothes off when the music starts.

4. Is it true the band has lots of sex after a gig?

Yes sometimes, but never with each other.

5. What kind of gear does the band endorse?

Any gear between 1st and 6th is good enough for us.
